In which I read and buy too much manga for another year. Seriously running out of space here.

This year was WAY different from last year. Last year I barely watched anything and had to struggle to even make a top 3 list. This year I sampled 33 anime and completely watched 13 through at least one quarter. Obviously they weren’t all good; most of the cut list fell into the trap of being boring or mediocre (anime loves cliches and tropes). Legal streaming is completely changing the way I can watch anime, and I’m now in danger of being overloaded whereas before I was scraping around, trying to find stuff worth the effort of downloading (not my preferred method). Recently, I purchased a year’s subscription to Crunchyroll for HD quality, usually same day simulcast anime. It’s an awesome deal.
Onto the lists!
I managed to see sixteen of 2012′s movies this year, although half were through Netflix. However, towards the end of the year, I did finally start seeing movies on my own instead of repeatedly missing them in the theater while waiting for friends, so hopefully I will be able to increase my theater viewing next year.
Three weeks ago, NPR posted 235 nominees for their 100 Best-Ever Teen Novels list. The public was allowed to pick 10 each for voting.
For the first half of what I saw in 2011, see here.
This covers movies I saw from September to December 2011, what I still need to see, and what I enjoyed the most.
Picking my “Best of” manga is WAY more difficult than my “Best of” anime as while my anime viewing has dropped, my manga reading has skyrocketed. Plus there’s the added difficulty of manga that actually was published this year, as opposed to manga that I just discovered and devoured this year. (nom nom nom)
